The Son Shines, Even When its Raining

Miranda and I recently took a trip to Praise's to look for a new Bible for her and an accompaniment CD for me. Miranda found a great Bible for herself, and she picked out the perfect song for me.
These last 3+ months have been difficult for Miranda and myself. When we lost Emily we not only lost our baby, we lost a piece of us. Miranda feels it the worse of the two of us; for good reason. Any woman who has been pregnant can identify with the special bond she has with their baby as it grows inside her. When Emily passed away she took a piece of Miranda's heart with her. It was so sad. It is so sad.
Even with feelings of great sadness (which are normal - we lost a baby...not a fetus) we didn't find ourselves in complete despair. God was there and He was a great comfort for us. We found hope in His promises. I don't know how people who do not have God in their lives get through sorrow and great tragedy. We cannot depend on ourselves for strength. We are only human - merely mortal limited beings. However, with God's power we can do great things and even overcome the worst things this life can throw at us.
I'm not at all saying that everyday is rosy and great. I would be lying. The fact is that some days are much harder than others. Some days you need to vent, some days you need to be angry, and some days you just need to sob - great inner soul crying that forces the pain straight out of you. Even during these times is presence is felt. I have never felt despair or complete darkness in the midst of all of this. He is always there.
Miranda picked, "Praise You in This Storm" by Casting Crowns. This song tells our testimony. I will leave you with the lyrics.
I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as You mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will life my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
